Check Your Soil!

Sometimes we wonder why we are not seeing any spiritual growth, why we seem to be stagnant. Is your seed planted in fertile soil? Check your soil!

AD!

In Matthew 13, Jesus told a parable about a man who sowed seed on good ground and it flourished, producing great crops. But some of the seed fell on rocky ground, and, lacking soil and deep roots, the plants withered. Other seed fell among the weeds and thorns, and the plants were choked from growing. All the seed was the same quality. What made the difference was the soil.

You are a seed, full of talents and gifts that the Lord can use. But how fertile is your soil? How receptive are you to God’s word? Do you take time to study and meditate on God’s Word? Or, are you planted in negativity and doubt? Do you spend your time with people who drink and use abusive language and bad jokes?

Are you spending your time with people who will help you exercise and grow your gifts and reach your true potential? You become like the people you associate with. So pull out the weeds and thorns in your life. And bring yourself to a full realization of who you are in Christ Jesus! Remember, you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood!

Mark 4:14-20 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”

Prayer: Oh Heavenly and merciful Father, thank you for your grace and love for me. Create in me a clean heart, O Lord and renew a right spirit within me.  Reveal to me the things I need to give up so I will become a better person.

Help me as I study and mediate on your Word day and night so I will have good success. Guide me to that soil that nourishes and that takes me to abundance, good health, and a true understanding of the gifts you have given me. Build me up that I may become all that you have planned for me, in Jesus name I pray, Amen!
